I`m in Germany

woo hoo, I`m in Germany...I only got my ticket organised last Saturday so it`s rather impromptu, but I`m happy. I won`t write much because the keyboard is sooo different that everything takes way longer to write.

Two days left

Losing steam rapidly. Only two days until we finish. Urg! So much to do, so little time. Brain dead!!! Below is what I'm handing in tomorrow for our "Remastered" project. The brief specified we had to take a classic piece of art and create a typographic piece in response. I chose Lady Lilith.

We had to mount both these pieces on card and holy moly {insert swearing here} that was hard. It became despairing towards the end. Got it done though. Also, I went to H&A printing and got them to print my invitation on different types of paper. First I got it on gittery vellum, then vellum imprinted with roses and finally acetate. The best was the roses. It looks soooo
cool.

Side one and two here.

And here's the invitation file. Note! It's not on the cool paper.

I WANT A PUPPY!

Lily, Stef and I went to the pet shop yesterday and I saw two adorable pekingese cross puppies. They were so lovely and I wanted one sooo much. But there were too many negative points that discouraged me. Predominantly, Dad would kick us out and each puppy cost $950.00. *Sniff sniff* I'll get over it...eventually.

Here's a picture of one I cuddled. Image courtesy of Lily.

Another day...

Quite tired...I didn't feel like this until a moment ago. I have a sudden urge to toss the towel in, especially when I noticed the pictures we took yesterday for photography are jpg's instead of raw. I should've checked the camera. Never mind, I'll get past this melancholy.

Went to Wellington for the long weekend. It was fun--though I wish I took a camera. Went to the "Letter Man" exhibition about a Samoan Typographer. It was interesting. Also spent $200 in one day. Oops.

Interesting

So we finally got the results back for our Print Samplers. I'm a little disappointed--I got a B+, which is okay, but somewhat irritating. My feedback comments weren't exactly enlightening. I know other people aren't to pleased either.

Never mind.

Another Monday

Handed "Design with Swirls" in today. Made on Illustrator and fonts are from Dafont.com. *Sigh* another Monday. Only six weeks and six days until course finishes for the year.

Here's the tutorial we did to day. It's a lucky cat...isn't it cute. Made on illustrator.

Photo Booth

Me and Sam had so much fun playing with photo booth. You can make yourself soooo ugly. Not that Samantha's ugly...^_~

Photography Madness

We were playing in the studio for photography. Seriously-heaps of fun. Once our group got familiar with each other, we were like soul mates.

Here's the LISS (Lily, Iona, Samantha and Stefanie ) Gang deep in thought. Check out Lily's blog for more photos.

I am happy to blog that I got an A for "The Weather Report" assignment in typography. Yay. Just got my marks.

Update

Right-o, so a lot has happened since I last updated--I've been lazy. Anyway, I got an A for Basic Design with my "Me, Myself & I" posters. Check them out:

This was made with photographs, Illustrator and Photoshop. The images were printed at H&A on luminous pearl gold paper. I love the final results.

As for Underground: Stef got 3rd in her section, which caused a stir in the crowd. Apparently the organisers got the order wrong when they were calling the prizes which meant someone else one first place and she got third.....

In the Wearable arts section called Mother Nature (10% had to be made from natural products) I got 2nd place! I got a Bilabong back pack and a $50 voucher, which I've spent on a pair of Roxy sunglasses. I was really happy and my model was LOVELY she was really enthusiastic and very pretty.

Savannah got a second place with her Zonta entry. Here's an image of her getting her prize with her model. Sorry the quality is bad, it was very hard to take photos.

In the Sarjeant competition we didn't win any prizes though ONE of my pictures were selected for the exhibition so its hanging up in a real life art gallery. I'm so happy.

I think I need a holiday now...

Deadlines

So, today is a busy one. Got my Print Sampler due for production as well as my "Pet" for Computer practical. The aim of the print sampler was to find 22 different types of print. Not easy. Then we have to present them in an innovative way. My print sampler is inspired by enameled jewelery boxes. The files were made on Illustrator then saved as a PDF file. I then took it to the print shop and had them print it on sheets of iridescent white paper at 280 gsm. At the bottom is my creature: Cynthia. The aim to create our pet was to scan (not photo) three dimensional objects and carefully process them--good craft is 70% of the assignment.
